Conversion Rate Optimization for Shopify site
RevitaLash Cosmetics was established in 2006 and has grown into a worldwide leader in advanced lash, brow and hair beautification products. In addition to direct sales through RevitaLash.com, their products are available in over 10,000 physician’s offices, spas, salons, and specialty retailers in over 50 countries.
As RevitaLash Cosmetics grew, they saw traffic to their Shopify-based website grow dramatically. After looking at analytics, it became evident that the conversion-rate from customers visiting the site left room for improvement. While the site had a beautiful visual esthetic, the user experience on the site would need to be improved for them to reach their sales goals.
Conversion rate improvements come from a wide variety of different places, and that was certainly the case with RevitaLash. After looking over the site, Mindsize saw a lot of potential and opportunities where small changes could make a big difference. A bad experience with a previous web development agency had left RevitaLash with an existing backlog of unfinished tasks and a strong need for better communication.
From the very beginning, Mindsize established consistent, thorough, communication that would be crucial to the success of the project. This began with Mindsize meeting with the client to identify and properly prioritize all the changes needed to improve the site. With a clear plan in place, Mindsize implemented a sweeping series of changes, from design improvements to streamlining the site’s checkout, all with the goal of removing friction from the buying process and improving the overall customer experience.

Marshall Street Disc Golf
WooCommerce site with slow page load times
Marshall Street Disc Golf, engaged Mindsize because their e-commerce website had slow performance, with load times anywhere from 20-42 seconds.
The site is powered by WordPress and WooCommerce and contains thousands of products. A single product may have dozens, or even hundreds of variations, depending on the color and weight choices available for a disc. While WooCommerce supports product variations, it works best with only a handful of variations. Some pages were running over fifteen thousand queries. Just a few customers would swamp the database server and cause those 42 second page load times.
Diving deep into the code, we determined an optimization was needed to how WooCommerce loads variation. Working with our friends at WooCommerce, we developed a custom solution to optimize queries, and had our client’s page load time down from 20-42 seconds, to 2 seconds.
Two seconds is still a long page load time. We prefer to see 300 milliseconds or less. We are continuing to work with Marshall Street Disc Golf and the WooCommerce core team on performance enhancements.
